Daedalochila auriculata Shell From Near Turnbull Creek Bridge 8/1/2009

    The top image shows the juvenile specimen as it appeared when taken into captivity on 8/1/2009. The specimen was maintained in a makeshift terrarium for a period of one month during which time it was fed solely a diet of Romaine lettuce and had no access to any other source of calcium. The bottom two images show the specimen as it appeared at the end of the one month period - now sporting a rudimentary adult lip. With the rudimentary lip the specimen measures 13.8 mm.
