Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) In Drainage System Just East Of Philips Highway

During a field survey on July 26, 2018, a Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) population was discovered in the drainage system/retention ponds behind the commercial complex at 9143 Philips Highway. While snails were found in two apparently interconnected retention ponds, the majority of the Pomacea were found in the northermost of the two which in turn was connected to a nearby swampy area - the possible source of the Pomacea.

Although not proven, It seems likely that the Pomacea at this location, as well as another nearby population of probable Pomacea canaliculata just west of Philips Highway, are related and both connected to the same swampy drainage system. Further surveys may provide confirmation.
