Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail Cannibalism

Found in the high roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.3 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida on 10/27/2021. When initially discovered it was believed that the pair were engaged in mating activity. However, upon closer examination it was obvious that the larger specimen had in fact just devoured the smaller of the two with none of the snail body remaining. The cannibalism victim measured 51.0 mm. while the larger specimen measured 66.6 mm.
