On shoreline armoring, Vilano Beach (north side of St. Augustine Inlet), St. Johns County, Florida, 7/12/2007 (30 mm.)

To the best of our knowledge this is the northernmost location that a live specimen has been found on the east coast of Florida. However, during 2005 a single crabbed specimen was found at the mouth of the Fort George River in Duval County - about 30 miles north of Vilano Beach. That find may indicate that a living population may be present there as well.
