Triplofusus giganteus (Kiener, 1840) After Hurricane Wilma

    The shells shown below are but some of the Triplofusus giganteus washed onto the shoreline at Kice Island, just south of Marco Island, Collier County, Florida by Hurricane Wilma in October, 2005 when it came ashore in Collier County.  Digital image by Amy Tripp who located the assembly of deceased specimens by the stench of the rotting animals.
