Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) Florida Applesnail Rare Gold Specimens

    These rare golden colored specimens were found dead on the shoreline of Lake Montgomery, Lake City, Columbia County, Florida on 10/1/2011. The largest specimen measures 45 mm. and the juvenile measures 11 mm. Pomacea paludosa are extremely common at this location and the illustrated specimens were found amongst the hundreds normally colored specimens that were also present.
