Leptoxis carinata nickliniana (I. Lea, 1862) Topotypes

    In small stream near the Homestead, Hot Springs, Bath County, Virginia 3/15/2012. Collected by Dennis and Teggy Frank. The largest specimen measures about 10.5 mm. Lea designated Bath County, Virginia as the type locality. A note accompanying specimens described as "part of the original lot" (ANSP 64477) states more specifically that they were "found by P. H. Nicklin in a rivulet near the Hot Springs Hotel (before The Homestead), Bath County, VA, Sept. 8, 1840."   Specimens In Situ
