Rare Massing Of Daedalochila auriculata (Say, 1818) Ocala Liptooth - 2021

Because of the unusual massing of live Daedalochila auriculata on the Spartan corner of Evergreen Avenue and the entrance road to the NUStar Energy port facility during 2019 and 2020, this reporter returned to the exact same location on 9/30/2021 to see if the rare previous events would repeat for a third year. Upon arrival at the site it was obvious that the area had been ?recently? treated with herbicide which had killed most of the vegetation. No live Daedalochila could be found. However, closer examination indicated that the corner area may not have been treated with chemicals and it was there that two live Daedalochila auriculata were found. Two further visits to the site over the following weeks yielded no further specimens thus confirming that a repeat of the 2019 and 2020 events was not going to occur during 2021.
