Conehead Katydid [Neoconocephalus species]

    This specimen was photographed as it rested on a concrete driveway in a residential area of southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 11/17/2006. It is a somewhat lethargic species commonly encountered while mowing the lawn and therefore usually falls prey to the power mower.
