Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) Depositing Egg Clutch

This female, along with several others, was discovered depositing an egg clutch on the concrete box culvert during mid-day on 9/22/2005. Concurrent rainy days had significantly raised the water level in the drainage ditch which apparently prompted this first observed (by this scribe) very unusual daytime egg laying. Other snails present, not actively engaged in egg laying, were busily mating.
