Cernuella cisalpina (Rossmässler, 1837) Maritime Gardensnail

Dr. David Robinson, National Malacology Specialist of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ), National Identification Services (NIS) identified these snails. Cernuella virgata (da Costa, 1778) is very similar, and Dr. Robinson is considering molecular taxonomic research to clarify the position of these and related nominal taxa.
