Astropecten articulatus Margined Sea Star

     This is by far the most common echinoderm found on northeast Florida beaches. This species is a well known molluscivore and thousands of tiny specimens have been collected through a close examination the gut contents.  During certain times of the year, they can be found alive on northeast Florida beaches by the thousands.
