Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) Florida Applesnail Eggs In situ

    The species does not appear to be particular in regards to where it deposits its egg clutches. Whether Spatterdock, Water Lily, or the concrete block illustrated below, the primary consideration appears to be whether the object is above the water's surface. When initially deposited, the eggs exhibit a reddish pink coloration.  However, after several days the coloration changes to almost pure white.
