U. S. Navy Tsunami Warning Sign At Mayport Naval Station

The beaches at both Mayport Naval Station and Kathryn Hanna Park are certainly not prone to being struck by a Tsunami. However, the 1886 earthquake in Charleston, South Carolina did cause a Tsunami which struck Mayport. This warning sign, but one of a series along the shoreline, was photographed on 8/28/2007 and had been erected within the past two weeks - some 121 years after the nineteenth century event.
