Pomacea canaliculata Egg Clutches On Concrete Box Culvert

Although the species will deposit egg clutches on virtually anything that is available, they seem to prefer substantial vertical substrate such as the illustrated concrete box culvert. For reasons that are not entirely clear, the southwest end of the culvert is preferred by the Pomacea although the northeast end is virtually identical in appearance - at least to a human observer.
