Palamedes Swallowtail [Papilio palamedes]

    This colorful specimen was was photographed in a sandy area on the shoreline of Lake Oneida, University of North Florida, in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 4/3/2005. This moist  sandy area has proven quite popular with two species of swallowtails - all of which may be imbibing diluted minerals and salts.
