Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) Florida Applesnail Egg Clutch

Pomacea paludosa are usually quite particular as to where they will deposit their egg clutch. However, when the breeding snail population exceeds readily available suitable substrate, unusual items may be pressed into service such as the dead tree leaf shown below. Its uncertain whether the damage to several of the eggs occurred during the laying process or as a result of predation.
