Juvenile Daedalochila auriculata (Say, 1818) showing the periostracal hairs

The juvenile pictured below was found beneath a large discarded flower pot on the southwestern bridge approach to Six Mile Creek on 11/29/2009. With a Dedalochila shell this small, an identification to a particular species can't always be made with 100% certainty - especially in regards to the illustrated specimen which was not retained. However, the juvenile was found in company with adult Daedalochila auriculata and no additional Daedalochila species have ever been found at this location.
