Possible predation on Pomacea maculata at aquatic center lake

During the 6/29/2006 visit to the lake several severely damaged/crushed Pomacea shells were found which would seemingly indicate that a yet unidentified animal is feeding on the snails. However, the possibility also exists that the shells were crushed by anglers in order to use the snails for bait such as has been reported in Florida. Similar predation has not been observed in regards to the two existing snail populations in Duval County of northeast Florida.
