Codium fragile Green Fleece Alga | Dead Man's Fingers |
| Codium fragile is a dark green siphonous alga that lives in the intertidal zone. It is native to the Pacific Ocean but is now commonly found along the east coast of the United States from the Florida Keys to New England. The specimen below was photographed by Joel Wooster in downtown New Smyrna Beach, Florida on 4/15/2006 where it is very common intertidally. The illustrated specimen measures about 160 mm. |
