Physella heterostropha (Say, 1817) Pewter Physa

    The two Physella were found feeding on a recently deceased Pomacea diffusa Blume, 1957 [Spiketop Applesnail] in a drainage ditch in the Lantana Lakes Subdivision of southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 1/11/2007. The Spiketop Applesnail, a common exotic aquarium species, was recently (12/2006) discovered living in Duval County waters. The Pomacea diffusa measures 40.9 mm.
