Daedalochila auriculata (Say, 1818) Ocala Liptooth Along US-1 North Of International Golf Parkway

St. Johns County, Florida

During a terrestrial mollusk survey on 12//20/2015, an apparent small Daedalochila auriculata population was discovered along the west side of US-1 about 3.4 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida (GPS: 30.039779N 081.254249W). Two recently deceased specimens (below image inset) were found in addition to one empty shell. In hopes of locating additional specimens, a machete was used to hack through the heavy vegetation/swamp separating US-1 from the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks immediately to the west, but no additional Daedalochila could be located.
