Cuban Treefrog [Osteopilus septentrionalis]

This Cuban Treefrog was photographed at night on the wall of a residential patio in southeastern Duval County, Florida on August 18, 2006. This the first member of this species to be found at this residential location despite periodic nocturnal surveys of the area. A second specimen, slightly different in coloration, was also seen nearby and neither specimen exhibited any fear of the photographer. This species, introduced to southern Florida from one or more Caribbean Islands, has been gradually expanding its range up the east coast of Florida, and during late 2004, was reportedly found in Savannah, Georgia - some 120 miles north of Duval County.
