Daedalochila auriculata On County Road 214 Just West Of St. Augustine, St. Johns Co., Florida

During a molluscan survey on August 8, 2010 snail enthusiast Brian Marshall discovered a population of Daedalochila auriculata in the roadside swale on County Road 214 (GPS: 29.53119N 081.21233W - WGS-84 Datum) about 0.10 miles west of that thoroughfare's intersection with Holmes Boulevard. During his visit to the site Brian found two empty Daedalochila shells and one living specimen on the south side of the road. This reporter visited the site the next day and found an additional four empty shells on the north side of the road thus confirming that the species is present in the swales on both sides of the road. A follow-up visit to the site on 8/12/2010 yielded an additional 18 shells including two living specimens - both of which were found on the south side of the road.
