Daedalochila uvulifera (Shuttleworth, 1852) Peninsula Liptooth On Blasius Rd. In Duval Co., Florida

During a molluscan survey on 7/14/2014, an apparent population of Daedalochila uvulifera were discovered on Blasius Road near the intersection of that thoroughfare and the CSX Transportation railroad crossing just south of Faye Road. Thirty one Thirty empty D. uvulifera shells were found along the railroad tracks on the north side of the intersection (pictured below) and a single empty shell was found on the south side of the tracks. Although a thorough survey was not conducted, the empty shells were present for a distance of at least 100 yards along the north side of the railroad tracks but no live specimens could be located. A follow-up visit to the site the next day yielded another dozen empty shells but again no live, or fresh dead specimens, could be found.
