Daedalochila auriculata (Say, 1818) Ocala Liptooth Large Specimens

    Adult Daedalochila auriculata can vary significantly in size from one location to the next as well as within a single population. Over the years the largest specimens have been found along County Road 13 near Bass Haven Lane on the east bank of the St. Johns River just north of Picolata in far western St. Johns County, Florida. The largest specimen found thus far measured 18.35 mm. and was collected on 10/24/2015 and may be the largest Deadalochila shell ever recorded.
