Florida Snapping Turtle [Chelydra serpentina osceola]

This medium sized specimen (carapace about seven inches in length) was found sitting in the middle of a relatively busy road in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 9/28/2017. This reporter stopped his vehicle and attempted to nudge the turtle off the road by using his foot to spare it from being run over. However, the little beast had other ideas and proceeded to attack - latching on to  my shoe. An available tree limb was then brought into play and the turtle was finally removed from the travel lane after some deft maneuvering.
