Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) With Leech And Leech Eggs

This 68 mm. specimen, with a leech and leech eggs attached, was found on 9/17/2005. While it is not uncommon to find Pomacea canaliculata with a single leech attached, the exact relationship between the two species is uncertain. Based upon past observations it seems entirely possible that the leeches simply consider the snails convenient substrate for depositing their eggs.
