Five Mesodon thyroidus (Say, 1817) White-lip Globe Up A Tree

     Up a tree surrounded by water on the east side of Joe Johns Road in the flood plain of Little Black Creek, County Road 220 0.2 miles NW of Knight Boxx Road, Clay County, Florida, 11/8/2021. Heavy rain on 11/6/2021 caused extensive flooding which sent the snails to higher ground to avoid drowning. A large number of snails were found in trees throughout the flood plain ranging from one to six specimens on each tree. The species routinely climbs trees even during times when no flooding is present.
