Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) And Eggs Page Two

Forty eight hours later the site was revisited. The Euglandina parent was no longer present at the location where the egg clutch was deposited but was subsequently located some 15 feet away beneath a downed dried palm frond. The clutch was excavated from the sandy substrate and 38 eggs were present which is normal for an adult Euglandina. Amazingly while counting the eggs, a second fresh Euglandina egg clutch was found mere inches away, which upon excavation, was found to have 19 eggs. It's uncertain whether the same Euglandina also deposited the second egg clutch. However, the site where the egg clutches were found is monitored on a regular basis and the 45 mm. specimen is the only adult Euglandina ever found although other juvenile specimens were found in the recent past.
