Articulating Surface Of Marine Mammal (Cetacean) Vertebra |
|
| Uncommonly found in local sheltered waters, these flat disk like objects range in size from about 25 mm. to as large as the illustrated specimen which is probably from a porpoise. They ultimately fuse with the body of the vertebral bone, but in young animals come free quite easily following their death/decomposition. | |
