Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail - Large Specimen

    This large freshly deceased specimen, measuring 65.1 mm., was found in a field on the west side of Pacetti Road in western St. Johns County, Florida on 1/13/2010. While the species is rather common in western St. Johns County including at this particular location, specimens this size are extremely rare. The specimen is believed to have succumbed to the record setting  cold temperatures which have persisted in northeast Florida during January.
