Aplysia brasiliana Rang, 1828 Mottled Seahare

This large (estimated length 300 mm.) apparent Mottled Seahare was found washed onto the beach just south of Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, Florida on 3/22/2007. Its defensive ink, which in situ the species uses to blind attackers, is plainly visible on the sand. Following photography, the specimen was returned to the sea. Digital image by Joel Wooster.
