Drymaeus dormani (W. G. Binney, 1857) Manatee Treesnail

On large tree rough barked tree about 3 feet above the ground, flood plain of Six Mile Creek on the east side of Pacetti Road, St. Johns County, Florida, 3/28/2021. Note the square shaped hole in the shell. A total of five specimens were present on the tree - four of which were collected (bottom image). It appears that the damaged shell sustained the injury prior to climbing the tree and subsequently perished in situ as a result. The other four specimens present on the tree were alive and well.
