Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Gluttonous Behavior

The 33 mm. specimen pictured below was taken into captivity from near the Interstate 295 overpass spanning Alden Road in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 3/31/2019. The snail was placed in a small collecting container along with three live Bradybaena similaris (Férussac, 1821) [Asian Tramp Snail] which were destined to be fed to other Euglandina already in captivity. Several hours later when the group were finally removed from the container it was discovered that the Euglandina had devoured all three Bradybaena which was quite an accomplishment considering that the three individual snails measured about 14 mm. (see bottom image).
