Ocypode quadrata Atlantic Ghost Crab |
| This young specimen was discovered gallivanting around in the back dunes of Mayport Naval Station beach on 12/21/2007. Upon spotting the photographer it made a beeline to the nearest of the many ghost crab burrows in the area. Hwever, for whatever reason it remained at the burrow entrance and posed for its portrait - certainly not normal behavior for this normally shy species. |
