Daedalochila sp. aff. bicornuta (Pilsbry, 1900) Two-horn Liptooth Variant A Feeding

    This pair of specimens (one adult and a tiny juvenile) was found feeding on an initially unidentified fruit in the roadside swale along US-19 immediately north of County Road 326 (Gulf Hammock) on 1/1/2012. This location has a very large and active Daedalochila population. The fruit being devoured by the snails is Melothria pendula [Guadeloupe Cucumber] described by Linnaeus in 1753 in the first binominal taxonomic work.
