Mesodon thyroidus (Say, 1817) White-lip Globe Up A Tree

     Up a tree about four feet above ground immediately adjacent to the flood plain of Little Black Creek, County Road 220 0.2 miles NW of Knight Boxx Road, Clay County, Florida, 7/29/2021. The species routinely climbs trees during  periods of prolonged heavy rain to escape possible drowning by rising water in their habitat. During the site visit on 7/29/2021, a total of ten Mesodon were found in trees as much as twelve feet above the ground. The group included five adults and five juveniles in various stages of development.
