Brown Anole [Anolis sagrei sagrei]

This  specimen was photographed at night in a vegetable garden in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 6/7/2007. During daylight hours the species is very active in searching out insect prey. However, at night they stake out a likely spot, remain totally motionless, and let the insect prey come to them. Because of this behavior they are ridiculously easy to approach for close-up photography.
