Busycon carica (Gmelin, 1791) Egg Capsules In Situ

A large female (buried in the sand - siphonal canal visible lower left) deposits her egg capsules. The egg capsule strands are coiled in a direction opposite that of the shell of the mother. Dextral  species lay strands which coil sinistrally from beginning to end and vice-versa.
