| The type is missing from the Ravenel Collection, housed at the Charleston Museum, thus the Say illustration must be considered the holotype of Oliva sayana Ravenel, unless a neotype is deemed necessary. Above is an image from Say's plate redrawn by Chenu (1845), who reproduced the first five volumes of the seven volume American Conchology (1830 - [?]1838) in French. |
