Busycotypus spiratus (Lamarck, 1816) Living Specimen

This species is uncommon in northeast Florida and is very rarely found on the open Atlantic beaches. Instead it prefers more sheltered waters such as inlets/sounds. The illustrated specimen is only the second specimen found on the beach by the photographer in 14 years of active shelling.
