Rhynchops niger Black Skimmer

These young Black Skimmers (foreground) represent but a few of the hundreds in a mixed flock of skimmers and gulls discovered on the beach at Fort Clinch State Park.  The skimmers, not commonly seen in such large numbers on northeast Florida beaches, were all lined up facing into the prevailing wind. The flock did not appear particularly disturbed by the presence of the photographer or other beach  visitors.
