Sunset Beach, North Carolina Marine Mollusk Checklist

- 240 species as of 2/5/2021 | updated on 2/5/2021 -

Jo O'Keefe collected shells on the far east end of the barrier island Sunset Beach, NC from 2008 to 2022. The south-facing island in Brunswick Co., North Carolina, fused with Bird Island to its west in 1997, provides an uninterrupted walk to the NC/SC state line. The last fourth miles of Bird Island is in South Carolina. Besides being diligent in her sampling, she made a special effort to collect micro mollusks. Jo personally collected all the listed taxa. All identifications have been confirmed by Dr. Harry G. Lee.
